Stories of Sadler Gate

Stories of Sadler Gate is a series of collagraph prints, scanned, edited and printed on vinyl stickers, supported by a Derby City Council Small Arts Grant Award. This was a follow on from Stories of Iron Gate, and is a concept which I intend to develop on with the use of colour in the future.

 

It’s about night life, music, fashion, blacksmithing and saddlers on the street Sadler Gate. My role in the project was making most of the collagraph cuts, mixing the colours, and printing them. My brother Charles assisted me with the concept and edited them in photoshop to prepare for install. It is installed at 36, Sadler Gate, Derby, DE1 3NR. It will remain here for the foreseeable future.
